Recently, one of Candlelighters’ London Marathon runners marshalled at the Hull 10K.
She said: “I always feel the buzz from the volunteers cheering us during a race, especially in the last few miles. It was a privilege to be able to give back by supporting others, helping both Candlelighters and the runners. I knew exactly what they felt and I was glad to be able to cheer them on.” This is what Team Candlelighters is all about.
So, will you run or marshal?
Team Candlelighters is made of runners and volunteers who thrive to beat their PBs, run their first race and give up their time to support families affected by childhood cancer. Team Hope, Team Harry, Team Guy, Team Rosie, to name of few, take on challenge after challenge, inspired by the brave children and young people who are facing or have faced life with cancer.
Candlelighters are a partner of two great York races: the York 10K and the Plusnet Yorkshire Marathon. They need to raise £1.5m a year to provide emotional, practical and financial support to their families at the hospital, at their family support centre and in the community. They also fund research.
Team Candlelighters still have places for the York 10K and Yorkshire Marathon, so join them! For more information, visit the Candlelighters website or contact Noemie on firstname.lastname@example.org or 0113 322 9283.
