ASICS Windermere Marathon

James Kirby

The ASICS Windermere Marathon is a spectacular marathon, voted the most scenic by readers of Runner’s World. The event takes place on 21 May with 1000 runners entering every year.
The marathon route takes you from the event centre around the shores of Lake Windermere. Described by Runner’s World as “undulating”, the route passes through Hawkshead, Newby Bridge and Bowness, before returning to Brathay Hall and the most magical finish line you can imagine. Refreshment stations will be at approximately three mile intervals.
Runners will finish alongside the inspirational Brathay 10in10, with participants finishing their 10th marathon over as many days adding to the overall atmosphere of the event.
Upon arriving at the finish, runners will be able to collect their medals and catch up with family and friends who will have had the opportunity to take part in the onsite activities, ranging from climbing and children’s races to open water swimming. While runners aren’t expected to join in they may be more interested in the food and drinks available on site.
Entries start at £41 for running club members and £43 for unattached runners.
