Power Up The Tower
30 APR2010

For an event that is slightly different to the usual race, the Sick Children's Trust has organised the 2010 Tower Power Challenge, in the tallest building in Yorkshire, Bridgewater Place in Leeds. 600 steps will lead the 300 runners to the top of this building on May 22, in the first race of its kind outside London.
The Sick Children's Trust has organised the event in a bid to raise £90,000 for their 'Big Move' appeal, to enable the charity to move its current 'Home from Home' in Leeds to a new location at Leeds General Infirmary.
The current Eckersley House has provided accommodation for the families of seriously ill children receiving treatment in St James Hospital in Leeds. As the St James children's wards are now moving to the Leeds General Infirmary, the new accommodation block needs to be built, to allow sick children to have their families nearby when going through prolonged medical treatment.
The 2010 Tower Power Challenge is a perfect event for involving community groups, corporate groups and individuals to get fit and help a great cause. Visitors to northernrunningguide.com are invited to take up the challenge in this quirky race.
