'runfree' With parkrun
13 MAY2010

There is no denying that parkrun has been one of the biggest movements in running to hit the UK. This month, the free timed 5K events have teamed up with Lucozade Sport to bring a special 'runfree' event to all parkrunners, encouraging runners old and new to come along to their local parkrun on May 29 2010.
Each parkrun location holds free timed 5K run each Saturday at 9am, where runners go along to run for fun or check their progress, if training for a big event.
Saturday May 29, however, will see every parkrun over the country joining together to celebrate 'runfree'. Lucozade Sports will be supporting each event with a few exciting bits and pieces, but organisers are asking the runners themselves to make the day really special.
Whether it's taking along a breakfast picnic, holding a cake bake-off, live music or anything else, parkruns across the country will come alive on Saturday May 29. Event directors will be chatting to regular runners at the runs in the coming week, throwing ideas as to what the days can be, organisers are hoping each event will be completely different, with lots of new runners attending on this special day.
Parkrun evens in the North of England include:
Albert Park, Middlesbrough
Hyde Park, Leeds
Woodbank Park, Stockport
Heaton Park, Manchester
Silksworth Sports Complex, Sunderland
