Cheering In Chester After First Marathon
3 JUN2010

Over 800 runners from the length & breadth of the UK took part in Chester's 1st ever marathon On Bank Holiday Monday May 31. The flat course was ideal for those chasing a "Personal Best" time and those seeking qualifying times for major international marathons.
Julian Macdonald of Chester Triathlon Club came through to win the race, with a fantastic time of 2:33:05, Gary Munslow and Graham McNeil won the Team Relay on 2:46:08 and the first female across the line was Jenni Muston of Charnwood Athletics Club in 3:00:48.

The race was a great success with runners commenting upon the enthusiastic support, fantastic organisation and plenty drinks stations around the course. At the Blacon drinks station there was a fantastic party atmosphere and it seemed that half the community had turned out to cheer on the runners.
Race organisers Andy White & Chris Hulse were at the finish to congratulate runners and thank the local communities, supporters, sponsors, volunteers, Chester Rugby Club and race officials for their invaluable help and support.
Andy said "Initial race feedback from runners has been incredible, ambitious plans for 2011 are well under way and we are planning a formal launch in the next few weeks."
