Northumberland Beauty At Wallington 10K
7 JUN2010

The Wallington 10K on September 12 will be one of the most scenic road races in the country. The route will start and finish at the historic house, taking runners past the river Wansbeck and through the heart of Northumberland to Scots Gap and Cambo. The course will return on a mile long downhill stretch to finish under the Clock tower at Wallington.
Race Director, Richard Hunter said, "The event is designed to attract new runners to take part through its corporate and community sections. Interest has been shown by local businesses and organisations who wish to enter teams of staff as well as the usual club runner."
Dating from 1688, The Wallington House is set within 100 acres of lawns, lakes, parkland and woodland. The beautiful walled garden, with its varied plant collection and charming conservatory, is an enchanting must-see after the race.
Hunter goes on to say "It is hoped the event will attract 350 runners with an additional 100 runners in the family fun run. Thanks to the National Trust, we have the added attraction of free access to the grounds and the Walled Gardens at Wallington makes it a great day out for all the family after the race."
Entry to the race is £12.50 for unattached runners with the one mile family fun run at £5.50 perched (adult runs free)
