Organisers of the adidas TERREX Adventure race are reminding people who want to participate that they will need to act fast with the closing date coming up fast (August 1) and places filling up quicker than expected. 25 teams have already signed up for what is billed to be the biggest challenge for adventure racers in the UK this year.
The race will take place over four days from August 27, and is a 400km course which is unknown to entrants until they arrive, the day before the race starts. From that moment on, they have to plan the best route by bike, foot and on water to cover the distance, with fixed controls in between. At certain points along the way, racers will be faced with hidden surprises, such as ghyll scrambling, abseiling or open water swimming. Whatever happens, racers need to expect the unexpected.
Any runners who would like to take part, but feel a four-day race is just a bit too much, race organisers, Open Adventure, are also hosting a 'prologue' event, giving teams of four adventurers a taste of what is to come. This will take place on a short course around Keswick, on August 26 and what's more, it's free!
The adidas TERREX adventure race makes up one of the races in the World Series of Adventure Racing. Other countries that are hosting qualifying races include - Poland, Argentina, Portugal, Australia, Sweden, New England, Costa Rica, Brazil, Ecuador and France.
