Urbanathlon Fever Strikes

28 JUL2010

This weekend saw Manchester host its 3rd Urbanathlon event under beautiful sunny skies, with over 900 racers taking part in this popular, although somewhat alternative, 5K event in the city's east side.

Runners started from the 2002 Commonwealth Games Track, then ran, crawled, scrambled and slid their way through a series of obstacles and challenges before finishing in style by clambering over two cars.

One of the race's obstacles was not in full use, however, as due to a hose pipe ban, the fireman's water slide was not in operation.

Plans for next year's race are already well under way, as the Urbanathlon series moves on to Glasgow and London in September.
