Sir Geoff Hurst At The York 10K

This Sunday's York 10K will have famous faces galore as World Cup winning legend Sir Geoff Hurst, champion jockey, Richard Dunwoody and Yorkshire-born model, Nell McAndrew join up to 6,000 runners to tackle to popular race.

Sunday will be the second running of this race, with record numbers expected to attend the event. The inaugural running of the event was started by former Olympic athlete Steve Cram and his son Marcus finished in second place.

The route, starts and finishes at York racecourse, and will take runners around York's centre, past the famous York Minster and castle. Weather forecasts are predicting sunny spells between heavy rain showers at the moment, runners and organisers will be hoping the rain stays to a minimum for the duration of the race.

The York 10K will complete this year's Jane Tomlinson 'Run for all' series, which included the Hull, Leeds, Pennine Lancashire and York 10K's, with plans well in place for next year's series. In 2011, dates have already been confirmed for the Hull 10K on May 15 and the York 10K on July 31, runners can pre-register for all races on the run for all website.
