The Brooks Lace Race

15 DEC2009

How long does it take to lace up a trainer? Read on for the answer ...

For the past few months Brooks area representatives have been calling on stockists and timing staff as they lace a Brooks Adrenaline GTS! There have been some amazingly quick results with the top times from six regions: the south-east, the south-west, the midlands, the north, Scotland and Ireland meeting in the semi finals.

Brooks Lace race

David Newman (General Manager, Runners Need, London) and Catriona McCorkell (Up & Running, Belfast) emerged as the finalists. The finals took place at Al Fresco, Brighton, cheered on by Brooks staff and sponsored athletes, who were there for the Brighton 10K the following day. David won with a time of 16.2 seconds, with Catriona coming in with 19.9 seconds. David was presented with a cheque for £500 together with a 'Golden' Brooks Shoe Trophy! Brooks started the Lace Race to give everyone a bit of a laugh...and this, it most certainly achieved. Hopefully it will become an annual event. A video of the finals is available to view online.

David & Cat both ran in the Brighton 10K road race that followed, which was won by Brooks sponsored athlete Chris Davies in a stunning time of 29.03minutes. Full results and a video of the 2009 Brighton 10K race can be viewed online.
