Salford's Second Success
8 SEP2010

Run on a lively, although slightly breezy September morning, this year's JD Sports City of Salford 10k had over 800 entrants and proved to be a superb event. The Mayor of Salford George Wilson got the second Salford 10K started, with the help legendary Dr Ron Hill MBE and Stephen White of JD Sports.
Last year's Male winner, Tom Charles, made it a double, coming across the line first with a new course record, in 33.32. It was a great effort by Tom and he fought the strong head wind along the water side. The ladies category was won by Kerrie Wood Doyle, with only 10 seconds separating the first three Ladies home.
As always all runners had fantastic support, especially those charity runners, with plenty of cheering supplied by the nominated charities of Macmillan, Help for Heroes, Kidscan and Rathbone.

Organisers, Sports Tours International, have extended their thanks to Salford City Council, Asics and Gatorade for their support in making the event a wonderful race to remember. They would also like to thank the fantastic volunteers and marshals, without whom, the race could not have taken place.
Full results are available here and organisers are already well on the way to making plans for an even better race next year!
