Castleton Ends Series In Family Af-Fair
10 SEP2010
Tomorrow afternoon will mark the end of the Northern Runner and Eskdale Valley Fell Race Series with a beautiful road racing route, as part of the Castleton Village Show. The show will be a real family day out, with craft stalls, tombola, raffle, Downe and Outs Jazz Band, classic and vintage cars, face painting and a tug-of-war! The show is sure to mark a fantastic end to the 2010 summer race series.
The Northern Runner and Eskdale Valley Summer Fell Race Series has included 11 races, from April through the summer months. Points are awarded at each race and after 10 races, only three men are now in contention to win the series title. Will Horsley (Northumberland Fell Runners), Mike Jeffries (North York Moors AC) and Jim Mann (Durham Fell Runners) can all take the prize home in tomorrow's race.
The ladies series winner has already been confirmed as Pippa Archer of Durham Fell Runners, taking 294 from a possible 296, from the races she has competed in. Pippa will be rooting for team-mate Jim to make it a Durham double in the series.
The racing doesn't stop tomorrow, however, the Northern Runner and Eskdale Valley Winter race series will get underway on September 26, with the Viking Chase race. This series will run throughout the winter months, finishing in the Gisborough Moors race on April 11 2011.
Good luck from all at NORTHERN RUNNING GUIDE to the three men competing for the title tomorrow. More information on the race series can be found on the Esk Valley Fell Club website.
