Plenty To Run In Preston
21 SEP2010

Run Preston, the city's annual running event, is this year taking place on September 26 as part of the Preston on the Move Festival. Last year's event attracted 1,500 competitors and hundreds of spectators and this year's promises to be bigger and better than ever.
Participants are offered a choice of three separate races catering for all levels of ability, from beginners to running experts. A 2k fun run, aimed at people aged 8 and over, a 10k run, aimed at more experienced runners aged 15 or over and a 5k run or walk, which doubles as a work place challenge and is open to anyone aged 14 or over.
All three races start and finish at Market Street and follow a route through the city centre and the picturesque Avenham and Miller Parks.
Phil Walsh, race director, said, "Run Preston is a fantastic day of activity with a 5k, 10k, Fun Run and an elite invitational 1,500m race all starting and finishing at the Covered Market in the city centre. The races are open to all abilities and we want to encourage as many people as possible to take part, no matter what level they are at. The course for 5 and 10k takes in the beautifully restored Avenham and Miller parks by the riverside. Samba bands make this an active, fun and family occasion not to be missed."
Entry forms can be downloaded on the Preston City Council website.
