New Push For Jog Leaders in Greater Manchester
24 SEP2010

Run in England has forged an exciting new link that's aimed at getting people in Manchester on their feet. GreaterSport is now supporting Run in England in helping more people in their area start running as part of Greater Manchester's 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy plan, a programme called Changing Lives.
The partnership is looking to increase the number of trained leaders across the county. This will lead to more Run in England groups in the Greater Manchester area, in turn giving people more chances to take up running in the city, in a safe and supportive environment.
A focus of the partnership will also be to ensure that groups have clear pathways into existing running clubs or other organised sessions, giving the right opportunities to members who want to progress with their running. The new partnership will also give runners the chance to take part in events and races such as the 5K parkruns and Race for Life, the Sport Relief Mile and the Greater Manchester 10K Run.
Run in England members will have the opportunity to take part in special leadership training programmes. GreaterSport has organised and funded a Leadership in Running Fitness course for the county with places available for local people. The course is being held in Oldham on Saturday, October 16 and another is planned to be started next year.
If you are interested in attending the course and becoming a Greater Manchester Run in England leader, contact Tina Beresford.
