A Fun Family Day In Bramham Park
7 OCT2010
Hundreds of runners will descend on Bramham Park in West Yorkshire on Sunday to take park in the 12th annual Bramham Park Fun Run. The day will consist of two races, in 10K and 5K distances, to suit all types of runner and walker.
The routes will both be run on paths in the park, offering beautiful surroundings and views to all racers. The terrain will be a mixture of tarmac roads, paths and farm tracks throughout the park. Current weather forecasts predict sunny intervals, so conditions should be good for racers and their families.
Organiser Ann Newton is looking forward to this year's race after the success in 2009, "The event is increasing in popularity every year, last year over 500 people entered and raised £7,000 for the charity. The event is open to all, the 10K offers a challenge for serious runners, the 5K is particularly suited to occasional runners and families who want to walk. Anyone who wishes to remember a relative or friend, who has been affected by cancer, can make a statement in support by wearing something pink."
The races are supported by local running club, the Tadcaster Harriers, who will be providing marshals and preparing the results of the races. Bramham Park is located in the grounds of Bramham House, a grand holiday home built in 1698 by Robert Benson, 1st Lord Bingley. Descendants of the family still occupy the house today, looking after its heritage and grounds.
