A 10K Robin Hood Trail

12 OCT2010

Over 350 runners took to the Robin Hood 10K Trail Run this weekend in the very warm and sunny conditions of Sherwood Pines Forest Park. The race followed internal roads and trails within the forest, and was enjoyable for everyone involved.

Paul Butcher won the race in 35:16 with Stephen Dickens close behind in second place, finishing in 37:04. The first female across the line was Jessica Smith in 40:31 and Sarah Vernau took the second womans' spot in 43:37. Mark Sanderson finished things off in 1:19:19 and Clare Crofts was the mid point runner in 55:44.

Also taking place on the day was the Maid Marion 5K and Little John 2K Fun Run. Matt Barnham beat 102 other runners in the 5K race, to take the title with a finishing time of 20:46. Duathletes also took part in a gruelling challenge, the Evil Sheriff Off Road Dualthlon, consisting of a total of 9km of running and 18km on two wheels.

The Robin Hood Adventure Challenges are run by One Step Beyond, who organise a number of events throughout the year. Check out their website for details of next year's Robin Hood Challenge and other events across the country.
