Barry's Back

Tomorrow, Barry the Baton will be returning to Blackpool to finally complete his 4,300 mile adventure around the British coast, as part of the CoastersGB British Coastal Relay. Over 400 runners have joined Barry along the coastal route, which has snaked around the bays and cliffs of the UK. Barry has been on the road for 167 days, travelling though Aberdeen in the north, down to Margate in the south and across to Swansea in the west.

Founded by Stu Prince, CoastersGB began on May 9 this year to see if it was possible for runners across the country to join together and complete this unique relay. This is the first of its kind and has proved to be a fantastic success, made even more incredible, as it was organised almost solely by runners on an internet forum.

The relay is due to finish between 2 and 3pm tomorrow in Blackpool, at Blackpool Tower, in traditional British autumn weather. Barry is to be accompanied by a fleet of runners for his last leg from Freckleton to Blackpool and will no doubt be looking forward to a good rest after having come so far, as will his escorts!
