Kielder Marathon Moving Forward For 2011
29 OCT2010
The inaugural Kielder Marathon took place recently and now the dust has settled, organisers are looking for ways to expand and improve the event for 2011. Steve Cram launched the event earlier this year and the race entry limit was reached in super fast time. Organisers decided to complement the main marathon with a duathlon event, to allow more people to take part in this beautiful new race.
The inaugural race took place under beautiful blue skies on Sunday October 17 2010, with almost 1000 athletes, including Steve himself, took to the challenging but picturesque course around Northern Europe's largest man made lake, Kielder Water in Northumberland.
Organisers told northernrunningguide.com, "We'd definitely love to grow the event year on year". They were not able to provide any more concrete information about the 2011 marathon.
The marathon has been billed as Britain's most beautiful and both participants from this year and those who missed out will be eagerly waiting for an announcement on next year's event. Keep checking northernrunningguide.com for new and updates as they happen.
