Scotland Comes Out In Harmeny At Jedburgh

Runners from Scotland and England competed in this weekend's Jedburgh Running Festival, with members of Harmeny Athletic Club, based outside Edinburgh, taking the title for both the half marathon and 10K races. Over 1000 runners took part in the festival, under bright blue, sunny skies.
Robert Turner (Harmeny) took the 10K title in 34:26, beating second placed Grant Wilkie (Corstorphine AAC) by just 18 seconds. Grant's teammate, Gillian Carr, took the ladies top spot in 41:41 in what was only the second year of the 10K event being part of the festival.
Jonathan Carpenter (Harmeny) won the 9th Jedburgh half marathon race in 1:12:19, with Patryk Gierjatowicz (Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds) in second place with a time of 1:13:58. Jennifer Maclean of Edinburgh AC won the ladies half marathon in 1:24:21.
Sean Kelly of Wallsend Harriers was the top Englishman in the half marathon, coming 7th in 1:19:15 and in the 10K race, Joe Smithyman of Barrow and Furness Striders and Alan Hodgson of Sunderland Harriers finished side by side in 23rd and 24th place.
