Snow Joke for parkrunners
2 DEC2010
Winter is here, and with a vengeance! Widespread snow and ice is holding everyone to ransom and getting on with day to day life has been near on impossible. With this in mind it is no surprise that organisers of some of the north of England's parkruns are considering whether to go ahead this weekend.
There are 12 parkruns in the north and currently one of those, south Manchester, will definitely not be going ahead on Saturday. Bramhall parkrun near Stockport also looks unlikely, although organisers will post a definitive decision on their website tomorrow.
Should the outcome for Bramhall be that of cancellation then runners in the Stockport area may still get their parkrun fix as it looks likely that the Woodbank event will be going ahead as normal after proving last year that the course is possible in all weathers. It even has a warm clubhouse!
It is advisable that you check the website of your local parkrun to see if the run will be going ahead, most organisers are looking to post a decision on Friday evening when they have more information to hand as to what Saturday's conditions will be.
