Pole Position

15 DEC2010

silverstone half marathon logo

Entries for the Silverstone Half Marathon are now open. The race is organised by the same team behind the London Marathon and has all the professional hallmarks of that slick operation. The race takes place on Sunday, March 6, 2011 and is billed as a good place for your first half marathon or as an ideal part of your build up to the London Marathon.

You'll be pleased to hear that the iconic Northamptonshire motor racing track will be traffic-free for the event and there is no need to worry about Lewis Hamilton or Jenson Button speeding by. Despite the ample space and even if you have had a quality build-up, don't expect to be breaking any lap records.

It's a unique opportunity to line up on the same race-track as the Formula One greats, albeit in an unusual setting for running. The circuit is quite exposed, so has a tendency to be windy, but by and large the course is flat and is a fair opportunity to run a PB. The entries are £15 each and close on 4 February, for more information and to enter on-line.
