Northern Parkruns Defy Weather

Six north of England parkruns - Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough, Bradford, Leeds and Hull - took place on Christmas Day with over 300 hardy souls taking part in the events. Heaton parkrun went ahead on Boxing Day. Fastest parkrunner of the day was Scotsman Ross Houston of Central AC who was a comfortable winner of the Bradford event in 16:46; Ross was a Bradford first-timer too.

The emphasis at Newcastle parkrun was clearly on festive cheer as the field ignored -5 conditions to enjoy their 5k jog. No times from that run are available but there are lots of photos on the event's Facebook page that provide ample evidence of a great day.
