Last Call For Great North Run Ballot

If you want to be one of the 50,000 plus runners at the start of this year's Bupa Great North Run on Sunday, September 18, then you've got just over 48 hours to make your application for the general ballot. The 2011 event will be the 31st running of the race generally considered to be the greatest half marathon in the world.

Last year the legendary Haile Gebrselassie won the race in 59:33. Post race the man known as the 'Emperor' said: "This is the Great North Run, it is so big and wonderful and it is good to be part of its history."

Apply for the general ballot at the Great Run website. Ballot closes at 12.00pm on Monday, February 7.
