Clowne Hosts its 25th Half Marathon

23 NOV2009

On Sunday 29th November the 25th Clowne Half Marathon will once again be well supported by runners and spectators alike. The route involves a single 13.1 mile lap of undulating hills and spectacular scenery. 2008 saw Mark Powell win the race by a huge margin of 3 minutes in a time of 1hr09mins27sec. Kate Nelson was the first female home in a time of 1hr23mins39sec.

Clowne Half Marathon Route

The 10am start of the main race is followed at 10.05am by a 3 mile fun run, so if the full half marathon is too much, why not try the shorter 3 miles?! Last year, Daniel Haynes and Maxine Baker were victorious in the shorter race. The start and finish is at the Community Centre on North Road in Clowne (5mins from Junction 30 off the M1). Entries are being accepted on the day and will be £15 for unaffiliated runners and £13 for affiliated runners. All runners will receive a commemorative t-shirt. There is a race entry limit of 700, so get there early.

There is a secure baggage area provided and full changing and shower facilities to use before and after the race which means runners can then take full advantage of the licensed bar on site which will be open from 11am. Hot and cold refreshments will also be available. For further information contact Les Banton: les.banton@archant.co.uk
