Busy Month For Leeds parkrun
4 MAR2011

A busy month for Leeds parkrun starts tomorrow with a special post-race event with 6 time British paralympic athlete Noel Thatcher. Following the normal parkrun event there will be a 'blind mile' where anyone (visually impaired or not) can either guide or be guided around one lap of the park. After that there will be a 5k run following the usual parkrun course; this is for visually impaired runners only and guides can be provided if needed. To finish the morning off Noel will be giving a motivational talk around his life as a paralympic athlete.
Later in the month, on Saturday, March 19, Leeds parkrun will be hosting their first children's event, a Red Nose Day 2k fun run for children aged 7-11 years (to be accompanied by adult at all times). A full programme of fun -balloons, cakes, stickers, fancy dress, face paint, running mascots and jugglers, ice cream van - is lined up.
Leeds parkrun is a well-established event running for over 3 years and now usually attracts 200 plus runners (at least when the weather is not too foul!). Like all parkruns, the event is enjoyed by runners of all abilities and finishing times range from 16 to 40 minutes.
More details are available at the Leeds parkrun website where you should confirm times and that events are going ahead.
