Parkrun Expands Across The North of England

Three new parkruns will be launched this month in the north of England, with Pennington Flash in Leigh near Wigan seeing its first event on Saturday. 38 runners took part in the inaugural run with Mark Davies from St Helens Sutton AC first home in 19:05 with promising youngster Mollie Williams (Stockport Harriers) fastest woman in 20:36.
Next week Sheffield will add a second parkrun, the city already hosts the successful Sheffield Hallam parkrun at Endcliffe park. New event is Concord parkrun and organisers are looking ahead to run 1 next Saturday, March 19.
March 26 and the parkrun phenomenon rolls into Liverpool with a new event at Princes Park. Liverpool has gone running mad in 2011 following the announcement of the new RunLiverpool Marathon on October 9. Organisers of the marathon are reporting a record entry for their half marathon later this month and greater interest in their feature 10Ks - the Womens 10K and the Tunnel 10K.
