Charity Places Left for Bupa 10,000
6 APR2011
Next month's BUPA London 10,000 will utilise a course that is likely to be used as laps for the 2012 Olympic Games marathon races. The annual event, which takes place on Monday, May 30, starts and finishes in St James's Park and uses Green Park as the assembly area.
This will be the fourth year of the race, which is organised by the same team behind the London Marathon, and regularly attracts over 9,000 entrants. Part of the event's big appeal is its central location and spectacular route which takes in the grandest of scenes around the City of Westminster and the City of London square mile.
The course threads past Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, The London Eye, Cleopatra's Needle, Tate Gallery, Millennium Bridge, The Monument, Lloyds of London, Leadenhall Market, Bank of England, Mansion House, St. Paul's Cathedral, Horseguard's Parade, Nelson's Column and Admiralty Arch with Buckingham Palace acting as the backdrop to the start and finish.
The race regularly attracts numerous star athletes; including Great Britain's European 10,000m champion Mo Farah, Olympic 10,000m bronze medallist Micah Kogo of Kenya and former World cross country champion Zersenay Tadese of Eritrea.
On-line entry for this year's event is closed, but there are still charity places available. For more information, see www.london10000.co.uk
