Liverpool Brothers Paris Adventure
27 APR2011
Andrew and Ian Jameson, winners of northernrunning guide.com's Paris marathon competition, enjoyed a great trip to the French capital. Andrew reports that the brothers from Liverpool found the warm conditions challenging on race day but battled right to the end.
"The day started great, full of excitement on a fabulous spring day, but it quickly turned into a scorcher as the race progressed, making the latter half a real test of endurance, in gruelling conditions.
"None the less nobody said it would be easy to run 26.2 miles and the thought of crossing the finish line to pick up our medal and t shirt in a fantastic city seemed even more worth while. Having decided to run the race together our plans were called into question. Ian suffered from severe cramp at the mile 20 mark and had to pull up. However he urged me to carry on.
"Ian was determined not to let this setback get the better of him and showed true fighting spirit to cross the line in 3 hours 43. Thankfully the consistency of even splits paid off for myself and I managed a 3hours 29. Thanks again for a fantastic prize, one that will be truly remembered."
