Claire Flashes Home At Pennington

2 MAY2011

Jeff Whittington with son Russell at London Marathon

A quarter of the field in Saturday's Pennington Flash parkrun were from Warrington club Spectrum Striders RC and the group would have returned home happy with the performance of Claire Andrew who repeated an unusual success of two weeks previously. Claire (19:01) was fastest woman but also finished first overall as she had on April 16 nearly a minute quicker that first man teenager Matthew Crehan (St Helens Sutton AC).

Two other prominent runners at Pennington Flash, father and son pair of Jeff (20:35) and Harvey Whittington (21:13), finished 4th and 6th respectively. 60something Jeff is currently in discussion with the Guinness Book of Records about his time (in tandem with another son, Russell) in the recent Virgin London marathon. Jeff believes that his joint time with Russell is a father and son world record.
