Northern 10 Mile Championships Taking Place in Thirsk This Weekend

24 NOV2009

The Thirsk 10 has now been running for 28 years and during that time it has attracted many of the North's top runners and is arguably one of the best 10 miles in the North of England. The Thirsk 10 event is a must in anyone's running calendar and this year incorporates the Northern 10 mile Championships! On the 29th November, the main race starts at 11am, with a fun run taking place beforehand at 10am.

Thirsk 10 Mile Road Race

If your looking for a 10 mile personal best time or an event for your first 10 miler then look no further. With Official Chip Timing, your race time will be accurately monitored and recorded, so those pb's are there for the beating! The route is almost the same as previous years but a few changes have been made to make the route safer and faster. The Thirsk 10 mile record is 48 minutes and 43 seconds so it's definitely a fast course. The route is all on good surfaces and is very well marshalled with usually a minimum of two drinks stations. Mile markers are used and at the finish there is an excellent presentation for prize winners in all categories. For those not wishing to run the full 10 miles, the fun run of 2 miles is perfect for all; keep fit enthusiasts, charity runners, parents and kids, and anyone else.

All finishers receive a race t-shirt but there are further prizes of £250 for the 1st male and female winners. Plus £250 prize for the first finisher under 50 minutes. Prizes for First 10 Males, First 10 Females
