Inspiring Races in Beautiful Places

20 JAN2010

lakeland trails

The Lakeland Trial Race Organisers are busy planning for another great year of events in 2010, and they hope that you can join them for more fun on the trails.

Ultimate Trails in Cartmel - 20th March 2010
Entries are now open for the 10km Sticky Toffee Trail Run along with the 18km Cartmel Trail Race & Challenge taking place on Saturday 20th March at Cartmel Racecourse, in the Lake District. Entry includes a finisher's event T shirt memento and a locally produced sticky toffee pudding for all finishers. In 2009, the event received a 99% overall approvals rating from the readers of Runnersworld magazine. Weekend camping, indoor changing, hot showers and a party night with live music all make for a memorable trail running weekend. 234 people have already entered, and you can take a look at last year's event video and enter online via the event website.

2010 Lakeland Trails Series
"Early Bird" discounted entries have already gone on sale, and new for 2010 will be specially designed Lakeland Trails event technical T shirts worth £20.00 for all finishers at each of the four venues. Confirmed dates and venues for the Lakeland Trails are listed below :

24/04/10 Hawkshead - 15km (201 entered as of 12/10/09)
05/06/10 Staveley - 17km (172 entered as of 12/10/09)
05/09/10 Keswick - 14km (176 entered as of 12/10/09)
02/10/10 Coniston - 15km (172 entered as of 12/10/09)

Lakeland Trails in Staveley - New Shorter 17km Course
A brand new 17km Puma Kentmere Trail Race and Challenge replaces the longer Garburn Trail next year after your feedback from the online questionnaire earlier in the year. The majority of respondents had a preference for a shorter course more in keeping with the rest of the Lakeland Trails series. So, the race organizers have listened, and have come up with an absolutely stunning, shorter 17km course taking in some amazing scenery and varied terrain. It will still be starting and finishing in Staveley village, and the course avoids the gruelling climb over Garburn Pass. It will be sad to see the end of the original "Garburn" after 6 years, but look forward to your feedback from the new course

Check out the new look 2010 website and get your entries in early to avoid disappointment!
