Big Turnout For Leeds Run For All

21 JUN2011

Running heroine Jane Tomlinson was remembered in style on Sunday as 9,000 entrants took part in the fifth anniversary Run For All. Sounding the start siren on a wet morning was Strictly Come Dancing star Tom Chambers for a field that included Matt Dawson, ex-Leeds United star Eddie Gray and a team from Emmerdale including James Thornton and Kelvin Fletcher.

At the business end of the run Paul Lockwood completed the city centre route in 32:41 seconds while fastest female was Nicki De-la-Salle in 36:01. Katy Coates was the mid-point runner in 1:01:29 and the last finisher came home in 1:57:00.

Mike Tomlinson said: "Another fantastic day. Huge thanks to everyone who took part and all the volunteers who helped to make the race so special. Thanks also to the city of Leeds for holding such an amazing event."

One runner summed up the occasion perfectly: "Thanks for a fabulous race, loved running round the great city of Leeds - and seeing all the familiar landmarks from a new perspective. Thanks to everyone involved. Jane is an amazing inspiration - her legend lives on."

Run for All races at Leeds, York and Hull have raised over £3m for charity since 2007.
