Tom Robinson Motors Along
30 JUN2011

Charity fundraiser Tom Robinson from Diggle in Greater Manchester completed his 18th consecutive 10k yesterday as part of a planned 100 day running campaign up to the Bupa Great North Run on Sunday, September 18. Tom is hoping to run 100 10ks in as many days, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Tom told northernrunningguide.com: "I am taking on this challenge to raise funds for my chosen charity, the JDRF, as my son Jake was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes in December 2008 aged just 4 years old. Although he is a happy and well little boy Type 1 Diabetes is a chronic condition. Jake will need daily Insulin injections and blood glucose testing for the rest of his life or hopefully until a cure is found.
"The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (JDRF) is the leading research foundation actively looking for a cure, and I am proud to be both a committed supporter and fundraiser for the charity."
Tom is doing each of his 10k runs before breakfast and as he works in Manchester, this often means having to get up before 5 o'clock to pound the hilly lanes around the village of Diggle in the Pennines.
When Tom completes his final effort at the Great North Run, he will have achieved the equivalent of about 25 marathons. You can follow Tom Robinson's progress on his blog which he is regularly updating. You can donate to Tom's fundraising effort at his JustGiving page.
