Hebden 22 Challenge A Success
27 JAN2010
The Hebden 2010 challenge took place on Saturday January 23 for the 4th time. The race entry limit of 350 runners was easily reached way ahead of the race date, again proving the growing popularity of this event. Both the 22 and 14.5 mile routes had some route changes due to the continuing weather issues in the area but this made the event possible to still go ahead. So both runners and walkers tackled the two routes and made for an enjoyable day out for all.

153 runners took to the longer 22 mile route with Alex Cran coming home first in a time of 3hr32minutes. 51 runners opted for the shorter route with Lukas Lee returning first in 2hr07minutes. Lindsay Atkinson was the first female finisher in 2hr39minutes. The walkers also showed up in their numbers with 85 completing the 22 mile course with most completing the distance in 7-8 hours and 39 walkers doing the shorter 14 mile course with most finishing in the 4-5 hour time.
The weather managed to hold up and good conditions were had. The friendly and well organised event will be sure to make this a popular event again next year so keep an eye on the official website for news and information on the 2011 challenge.
Full race reports and photos of the 2010 event can be viewed on the official website.
