Race Organisers Courses
18 AUG2011

England Athletics and runbritain have announced the dates for their latest series of race organiser courses. After the successful hosting of courses in 2010 and this year, the latest programme announcement will see them deliver courses in Bristol (September 25), Leeds (October 2 2011), Liverpool (November13) and Gravesend (January 8).
This is the first step on what runbritain hopes will be a three tier system of road race organiser courses at accredited, intermediate and advanced levels over the next two years. The course lasts one day, costs £40 including lunch and covers rules, risk assessment, legal and administration, working with public partners, health and safety, use of IT and briefing of marshals as its core components. There are opportunities for questions and discussions on other topics.
David Herd is race director of the Winchcombe 10 in Gloucestershire and he travelled over 200 miles to attend the recent course in Peterborough. He said: "The course gave everyone a very good insight into how to manage an event and a most enjoyable day".
