Get Set For Salford Sunday

24 AUG2011

Salford Quays skyline

There's just over a week to go until that popular north-west event - the City of Salford 10K/5K - and you can still enter the races on Sunday, September 4. The start and finish of this event will be in the heart of Salford Quays at the Lowry Plaza situated between The Lowry and Lowry Outlet Mall.

The route for the 10k takes runners through the new MediaCityUK development, now home to Children's BBC, BBC Sport, North West Tonight and loads more! You'll run over the bridges in the Quays, see the Imperial War Museum and then head over to Old Trafford and Manchester United before returning back to the Quays! The 5K course will be run over part of the 10K course mainly around the Salford Quays are. There is a prize for the first person in fancy dress!

The event is sponsored by Club La Santa and just by entering the City of Salford 10k and 5k, you will automatically get a goody bag with a £100 voucher for Club La Santa in Lanzarote.

Other promotions for the event include half price entry if you took part in this year's Pennington Flash or the City of Manchester 10K (other events staged by City of Salford 10K/5K organisers - Sports Tours International). Plus, entrants will be entitled to £50 off any ING New York City Marathon packages (valid on new bookings only). Finally If you've already booked to run the 2011 ING New York City Marathon through Sports Tours International, you can enter the City of Salford 10k for half price.

Graham Jackson at Sports Tours International told northernrunningguide.com: "We're looking forward to a great day on September 4. We have a fast course, ideal for any of the regulars at Manchester's five parkruns who fancy stepping up in distance to 10K or testing themselves in race conditions over 5K."

Enter the event online at the Sports Tours International website. You can also check out the 10K and 5K routes on the Gallery page.
