Following the success of the popular Lancaster Women's Running Group, organiser Sadie Mckeand has added a further exercise class that looks to encourage ladies to take up running for the first time. The pre-running group has been set up to give advice and build fitness for women who want to start running. Sadie, along with group leader Lindsay Hudd, has organised two half-hour outdoor sessions during the week with the hope that the pre-runners will eventually join the Lancaster Women's Running Group.
Sadie told northernrunningguide.com, "Our groups are fun, social, non-competitive and open to every age, stage, shape and size. We genuinely support the complete beginner and by being all women, we find that our members feel less self-conscious."
With both group organisers completing their Running Leadership course, Sadie is keen to stress that they are determined to get more women out running, commenting: "We work on a simple philosophy that will give all women the opportunity to run together to improve their health, fitness, confidence and safety."
If you are interested in joining the pre-running class or the Lancaster Women's Group, you can visit Sadie's website for contact details. The running group meets on Tuesday and Thursdays nights at 6.30pm with a pre-running class organised for 7.30pm. There is an additional run on Saturday mornings at 10am.
