If the sight of Mo Farah out-striding Bernard Legat in front of 35,000 fans in Daegu filled you with a sense of inspiration and perhaps a tinge of jealousy, this may well be the competition for you. The National Lottery is offering runners an opportunity to be the first to cross the line in the new stadium with an Olympic Park Run competition.
The National Lottery has made 5,000 places available for the event that will see successful applicants take on a 5 mile course. The route begins at the Olympic Park and passes through some iconic venues including the Velodrome and Aquatics Centre and culminates in the first public access to the Olympic Stadium. The date for the event is set for Saturday, March 31, 2012, a full four months before Farah and co grace the stadium.
On the day, a host of past and present Olympic and Paralympic stars will be present as both participants and supporters. Each runner will also be given two spectator passes to enable friends and family to cheer you on in the UK's third largest stadium.
The 5,000 places will be allocated through a ballot system, with a price of £15 per entry. Applications will be accepted up until October 27, while all successful entries will receive notification by Friday, November 4.
For more information and to enter the ballot, visit the National Lottery Olympic Park Run event website.
