Bushy parkrun witnessed a new record on Saturday, October 22, as Justina Heslop of Clapham Chasers RC finished ahead of a 700 strong running field with an exceptional 15:58. Justina's time is not only a course record at Bushy but represents the fastest parkrun at any location achieved by a female runner.
Until Saturday, Gladys Chemweno was the quickest female with a time of 16:11, set in May 2010. In addition to setting a new course record, Justina shaved 30 seconds off her own PB and in the process became the first female to finish in under 16 minutes.
In what was a weekend of record-breaking performances across the parkrun community, Matthew Pierson of Homfirth Harriers achieved a PB in Huddersfield with an impressive time of 15:19. Other notable results included a 15:32 by Ben Russell at Princes Park, Liverpool, and Sandra Bowers, who set a new course record at Andover (17:29). Craig Mottram still remains the quickest male, however, with his 14:00 feat in June 2006.
Parkrun is a weekly 5k timed event held on Saturday mornings. You can sign-up to your nearest parkrun at their website.
