Martin To Power Through For Noble Cause

29 NOV2011

guitarist Martin Noble

British Sea Power guitarist Martin Noble has confirmed he will take part in next year's Brighton Marathon on April 15. The musician will be raising money for Sussex Wildlife Trust, the leading conservation organisation that covers Brighton and Hove and East and West Sussex.

Revealing his commitment to fundraising for the trust, Martin commented: "I'm doing it for the badgers, the nightjars and slow worms." The guitarist's choice of charity seems to hold a close relationship with his source of musical inspiration with British Sea Power drawing a lot of their musical inspiration from wild nature.

Indeed, the band's live performances often involve stage props such as plastic birds and plants. On their most recent album, Do You Like Rock Music?, there is a track called 'The Great Skua' which pays homage to the large aggressive migratory seabird which deliberately harasses birds to steal a free meal.

News of Martin's participation will come as another advertisement for an event that already boasts Steve Coogan as one of its confirmed runners. The race has enjoyed considerable success despite its relative infancy, with numbers steadily improving since 2009.

The competition has already reached its entry capacity of 18,000 entries for the upcoming race. There are, however, a number of charity spots available for interested runners. For more information, visit the event website.
