For the first time in the UK, Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington is offering runners of all abilities the chance to join her in a 5k run. The event, which is due to take place on Wednesday, December 21, at Leeds Metropolitan University, has been organised in co-ordination with the Jane Tomlinson Appeal, with all funds raised going directly to the charity.
Chrissie, who is patron of the charity, will take a group training session before setting off on the 5k run, with a buffet and Q&A rounding off the day's proceedings. Having completed her first triathlon back in 2004, Chrissie is undefeated at the Ironman distance, recording her fourth successive victory at the Kailua-Kona event.
On her involvement with the charity, the triathlete commented: "It was a huge honour to be asked to become a Patron of the Appeal last year. Jane's unwavering determination, strength, courage and selflessness in the face of adversity is an inspiration to each and every one of us. To be able to host an event like this and share my passion with people is a privilege."
Mike Tomlinson, trustee of the Appeal said: "Chrissie is a phenomenal world champion and probably the most inspirational person in world sport and it's amazing that she's coming to Yorkshire to support the Appeal."
With limited places available, organisers are urging those interested to sign up now to avoid missing out on the opportunity to train with a British sporting legend. To find out more and to book a place visit the event website
