Reminder For Great North Run

21 DEC2011

Great North Run 2012

Runners hopeful of gaining a place at next year's Great North Run are being urged to sign up for a reminder service that notifies them of the ballot opening on Saturday, January 7.

Regarded as one of the most popular hal marathon events, the race is expected to attract over 50,000 runners for the 2012 competition, organised for September 16. This year's race saw over two million viewers watch live coverage of Kenyan duo Martin Mathathi and Lucy Kabuu securing victory in their respective fields. The event was given a rousing opening with the Red Arrows performed a fly-past over the Tyne Bridge.

To sign up for the reminder service and avoid missing the opening of the ballot, visit the event website.
