Look In Mirror For Great North Run Chance

Even though there are 50,000 plus places for this year's Bupa Great North Run, the level of demand means that it is still difficult to secure a position on the start line. So good news then that the Daily Mirror will be offering 3,000 guaranteed places through a ballot which is now open and will run until midnight on Friday, January 6. Each winning entrant will get a place in the Bupa Great North Run 2012 on September 16.

The Bupa Great North Run 2012 will see 54,000 runners pounding 13.1 miles through the streets of Newcastle, Gateshead and South Shields, cheered on by thousands of enthusiastic NE spectators and watched by millions of tv viewers.

The event is open to everyone, from newcomers to experienced runners and elite athletes. Celebrity runners have included Gordon Ramsay, Nell McAndrew, X Factor winner Joe McElderry, Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth and TV presenter Angellica Bell.

With over 8 months until race day on September 16, there is plenty of time for rookie runners to get into shape for the big event so ideal for those making fitness-related New Year resolutions.
