Landmark For Parkrun

10 JAN2012

action from Bushy parkrun

There was a significant landmark reached by the Bushy Park parkrun on Saturday 6 January as they reached a record 1,000 participants. It was the first time ever there has been a four-figure turnout for the original and UK's biggest parkrun.

The total exceeded the previous Bushy Park record of 864 by 136 and the equivalent event one year earlier by a massive 379. First home was Mohammed Ismail (Herne Hill Harriers) in 16:45.

Second place went to Paul Knetchl (British Airways AC) in 17:28 and third was Tom Langley (Thames Turbo) just 17 seconds adrift. The leading lady was parkrun debutant Catherine Row in 18:18.

Sam Connor was the midpoint finisher in 26:19. Perhaps most significantly, the final runner across the line and completing the iconic 1,000 finishers was Sally Willis in 53:28.
