Bishop Ready For Week Of Hell

10 FEB2012

John Bishop

Comedian John Bishop is bracing himself for a five-day challenge that will see him cycle, row, and run more than 290 miles. The quest, which has been called, 'Bishop's Week of Hell,' begins on Monday, February 27 and will take the Liverpudlian from the Eiffel Tower to Trafalgar Square.

The trans-European triathlon, which is in aid of Sport Relief, will begin with a 185 mile cycle from Paris to the coast in less than 24 hours, followed by an exhausting row to the UK. The concluding section will see Bishop embark upon three marathons over the course of three successive days, with the planned finished date Friday, March 2.

For the marathon leg of his triathlon, the comedian will be teamed up with celebrities Dermot O'Leary, Frank Skinner and Robbie Savage. Bishop commented: "I must be mad. I'm a man in my mid 40s, a bit thicker round the middle than I'd like to be and I'm about to take on the biggest physical challenge of my life."

He continued: "Up until a few weeks ago I'd never even sat in a rowing boat and now I've got miles of water to cover, then there's the cycle and don't even mention the word marathon to me." In a recent twitter post, the comedian gave a light-hearted update on his training: "Is joggers' nipple the oddest pain in the world?"

Throughout his Week of Hell, John Bishop is fundraising for Sport Relief and is hoping to secure enough money for a vaccine against five deadly diseases for 250,000 children in Africa. You can sponsor him by visiting his Sport Relief page.
