After a long absence, Burnley will welcome its very own half marathon after news that the team behind the impressive Ribble Valley 10K confirmed the launch of the 13.1 mile event earlier this week. Scheduled for Sunday 25 March, Burnley Half Marathon has been designed to offer runners a 'scenic, fast and flowing course' that incorporates the beautiful surroundings of Towneley Park.
News of the half’s launch will provide a big boost for the Lancashire running scene and it is anticipated the event will make a big impact. The fully closed, out and back course has been designed to allow constant contact with other runners, giving a real 'race' feel to asssit with fast times and PB’s!
Race organisers were delighted to announce the launch of the event to runABC North and told us: "The Burnley Half Marathon is a fantastic new addition to the popular Ribble Valley and Burnley 10Ks. It's a fully road closed and scenic 13.1 mile route, starting in the beautiful setting of Towneley Park.
“We're expecting a large turnout for the race on 25 March, full of runners wanting to be a part of the first year of this exciting half marathon. Post-race goodies include all claret technical running T-shirts and bespoke medals awarded to each finisher - expect to see a flood of Burnley coloured runners heading home with some well earned personal bests."
Registration for Burnley Half Marathon is now open. The first 400 entries received can register at the discounted price of £28. Further information is available here.
