With a course that offers far reaching coastal views, scenic countryside and a fantastic finish on Cleethorpes promenade, the Humber Coastal Half Marathon made quite the splash during its first staging in September last year. News of entries opening for the 2018 event (Sunday 16 September) then, will be met with anticipation both on Humberside and across the country.
Along with confirmation of registration opening, organisers Tape 2 Tape (who are also behind the successful Great Grimsby 10K and North Lincolnshire Half Marathon) announced that the half will be joined by a pancake flat 5k, which, like the longer race, will offer a grandstand finale on the promenade.
The half marathon will showcase the amazing Humber coastline and show off the sights and sounds of the seaside town. Moving from Kings Road, runners will embark upon a multi-terrain course that takes in flat fast tarmac, historic coastal footpath, trails, plus new and old holiday parks.
2017 saw over 1600 runners compete with Lincoln Wellington AC’s Shane Robinson taking first in 1:11:39 and clubmate William Strangeway second (1:12:49). Nicola Jayne Curtis secured top place in the female field in 1:28:15, Carolyn Hay (1:28:50) and Beverley Wilson (1:29:47) were second and third respectively.
Entry for the APB Humber Coastal Half Marathon is priced at just £22 (£20 affiliated), while the 5k costs £15 (£13). Registration is available here.
