Final Call For Festive 10K At Wilmslow

Wilmslow Festive 10K

The second staging of the Wilmslow Festive 10K, scheduled for Sunday 26 November, seems destined for a sell-out with organisers announcing over the course of the weekend that entries have now exceeded the 3000 mark. This figure represents a substantial jump in numbers for the event, which attracted around 1250 runners in 2016.

The upturn in registrations has meant that Wilmslow-based race promoters, Runnorthwest, has increased their original entry limit with the support of Royal London & Emerson Group who have agreed use of their private Wilmslow car parks.

Departing from the centre of Wilmslow, the field will tackle a point-to-point course that finishes at the same location as the popular Waters Wilmslow Half Marathon. Runners embark on a scenic route that moves out of Wilmslow, along Knutsford Road before looping back round to Burleyhurst Lane and a finish on Sandy Lane.

With a series of fast times posted last year, the course clearly offers a strong prospect of a winter PB. Last year's Cardiff’s Matt Clowes set the pace with an impressive victory in 29:55, with Liverpool Harriers’ Daniel Cliffe second (30:07) and Matt Bond (30:10) of Sale Harriers a close third.

Faye Fullerton ran a season’s best to lead the women home in 34:27, with Charnwood athlete Jane Potter following closely in 34:31. Liverpool Pembroke and Sefton’s Kirsty Longley rounded off the top trio of female performers in 35:44.
