Still Time To Line Up At Lincoln Half

Start Of The Lincoln Half Marathon

There's less than eight weeks to go to Lincoln Half Marathon on Sunday 1 October with 5,000 places selling quickly. Celebrate Lincolnshire Day and a PB in this charming cathedral city.

Last year’s inaugural Lincoln Half Marathon was a resounding success and the organisers, OSB Events hope to capitalise on that with a race to remember. There is plenty on offer to tempt people to sign up and toe the line on 1 October.

This historic tour of the city takes place on closed roads, passing notable landmarks including Lincoln Castle and Lincoln Cathedral as well as Brayford Wharf and the University. The course is mostly flat apart from the obligatory hill, which will feature a music station to encourage runners to the top of it.

The race starts and finishes in the Lincolnshire Showground, the nerve centre for the event with entertainment, food and drink for the runners, their families and friends. The event is held in support of two charities: The Ethan Maull ‘Up Yours To Cancer’ Foundation and Cancer Research UK, with the latter offering places to runners who will fundraise on their behalf.

New for this year is team building with a difference. The Corporate Challenge is aimed at local businesses who will compete against each other while raising money for charity. It is open to teams with a minimum of five people, offering a trophy and guaranteed entry to the 2018 event for the fastest team.

For anyone undecided about whether to enter, race director Iain Hamilton has this to say: ”Now is the perfect time to sign up and have a fantastic race to look forward to this autumn.”
