Simplyhealth Great Tees 10K

Arms raised girl runner at the Great City Games

The Simplyhealth Great Tees 10K returns to Stockton-on-Tees for its second year this September. Get involved and you’ll be part of an exciting, action-packed day of sporting events as Tees Valley hosts the Great North CityGames on Stockton High Street for the first time on the same day.

The Great North CityGames, normally held in NewcastleGateshead is staged the day before the Simplyhealth Great North Run and is an established highlight in an action packed sporting weekend.

On Saturday 7 September 2019 thousands will enjoy this incredible spectacle in the heart of Stockton town centre. The High Street will be transformed to host world-class athletes from around the globe as they compete alongside the very best of home-grown talent.

Get the kids involved and sign them up for the Simplyhealth Junior and Mini Great Tees Run. The runs which are open to budding runners aged 3-14 give children the chance to experience their own finish line moment and wear their medals with pride after finishing the 2k or 4k route. The Junior and Mini runs on Saturday 7 September take place alongside the Simplyhealth Great Tees 10K.

To register and for full details about the runs visit the event website.

If you are visiting the area for the first time, why not make a weekend of it and enjoy an action-packed, adventure in Tees Valley. Just on the doorstep you can discover the Olympic standard Tees Barrage International White Water Centre overlooked by Air Trail – the biggest climbing adventure course of its kind in the UK. You can be brave and take a leap from the only bridge in England that you can bungee jump off – the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough.

Take to the water at Hartlepool Marina and try jet skiing, paddle boarding and power boating. Catch a show at the only dedicated children’s theatre north of London, the Hullabaloo in Darlington or explore stunning countryside and coastline in Hartlepool and Redcar & Cleveland including the pretty, Victorian seaside town of Saltburn-by-the-Sea.

If you’d rather take things at a slower pace you can relax in the magnificent surroundings of Wynyard Hall or enjoy ultimate luxury at the five star resort Rockliffe Hall.
